Mother, Mother, I Want Another by Maria Polushkin Robbins

May 4, 2010 - 10:13 pm No Comments

Mother mouse is trying to get her son to bed and she kisses him good night. He tells her he wants “another, mother” and she misunderstands and thinks he wants another mother. So she finds some other animal mothers such as a pig and a frog and they kiss him goodnight and sing him a good night song. Poor baby mouse only wants another kiss from his own mother. In the end they get their misunderstanding all straightened out and she, of course, gives him another kiss goodnight. Not only is this a very sweet story that is also funny, but the illustrations are fantastic as well.

The Napping House by Audrey and Don Wood

This is a very cute tale about a house full of napping people and napping animals and how it all falls apart because of a flea. The illustrations in this book are ideal for a child sitting on a parent’s lap listening to the story. Each page gives the child something new to look at and it’s fun to see where the animals are in each picture and to see what they are doing. Our favorite animal to watch is the mouse.

This book made its way into our house before our oldest was born. I started reading it to him every night before he was born and then at bedtime after he was born. It is a sweet and perfect bedtime story with illustrations that are as warm and cuddly as the story.
