Baby Ted does not want to go to bed, but his father patiently helps Ted get ready for bed while Ted is also pretending to be a crocodile, a duck, a frog, a penguin and a few other critters. I love the playfulness and patience the father in this story exhibits with his child. It is a good reminder to all parents that sometimes the work of getting them to bed can be fun and playful, too.

The title of this book sums up its content pretty well. It’s a cute rhyming tale of Boynton’s classic characters getting ready for bed and doing probably the same things your little ones do before they go to bed…taking a bath, brushing their teeth, picking out the pajamas. This is, as you may have guessed, a great bedtime book to help reinforce those nightly routines.

A rhyming Thai lullaby where a mother tries to keep all of the creatures quiet…from a mosquito to a cat to a monkey to a water buffalo to an elephant…so that her baby can sleep. All is quiet in the end and baby isn’t the only one who’s asleep.

A simple black and white book that goes through a baby/toddler’s day from breakfast to getting dressed to playing outside to bath time and bedtime. Babies love to look at things and “talk” about things that are all about them…it’s a great way to build on vocabulary too.

Sandra Boynton has a knack for writing books that the little ones love and this one is no exception. Little Pookie’s mom is trying to get him to go to bed, but Little Pookie has other ideas. Your little one will enjoy the rhyme of this book as well as helping Little Pookie’s mom find him. Babies and toddlers also love to see how other little people (or in this case a pig) get ready for bed, too…picking out the pajamas, brushing teeth and getting tucked in with a kiss good night.

My boys loved this book when they were little…not only do you get to kiss your baby all the way from their cute little toes all the way up to their sleepy little head, but it also works on numbers from ten to one.
Ten little kisses on teeny tiny toes
Nine laughing kisses on busy wriggly feet
Eight squishy kisses on chubby, yummy, knees
So much fun…little ones love the interaction and all those kisses!

The little boy in this silly, but heart-warming tale, wants to know if his mama would still love him if he was a big scary ape? Of course, she tells him she would still love him and she would take care of him and comb him to make sure he didn’t have any tangles. What is I was a smelly skunK? Yep, she would still love him and sprinkle him with a sweet-smelling powder. What if he was an alligator? Yep. A dinosaur? A swamp creature? A green alien? Yep, yep and yep. The mother lets the little boys know that no matter what, she will love him and take care of him. Very touching book that will also get some giggles. The illustrations are a hoot, too.

This book’s illustrations are so beautiful I want to return the copy I got from the library and buy one for myself so I can keep it. The book is about how different animals sleep…some sleep standing up, some sleep by themselves, some sleep with their eyes open, etc., etc. The informative text combined with the cute, whimsical and beautiful illustrations make this book a keeper.

The man and his wife are quiet people; they don’t make a peep and neither does their pet cat or their pet parrot. One day, however, a mouse sneaks into their house and this mouse snores SOOOOO loudly that not only does it wake them up, but it shakes their house. Will the quiet couple kick the mouse out? Will they teach the mouse to be quiet or will they just learn to live with his noisy ways? Such a cute story about getting along, acceptance and making the best out of a situation. Oh, and it rhymes and you know how much I love a good story that rhymes. 🙂

Sam’s mom reads him his favorite book, tucks him in, gets him his stuffed animals, gets him a glass of warm milk, but he’s not ready for bed until he gets a kiss good night. Great bedtime book and so sweet.
