This is such a sweet, sweet book and might make you a little teary-eyed as you read it to your little ones. The illustrations in this book are wonderful and any parent will be able to identify with the message.
Here is an excerpt:
I am your parent you are my child
I am your quiet place, you are my wild
I am your calm face, you are my giggle
I am your wait, you are my wiggle….
I am your lullaby, you are my peek-a-boo
I am your kiss goodnight, you are my I love you

Little Mouse is a little jealous of the other animals. Daddy Frog can jump really high to bring his little frogs the juiciest bugs and Mama Rabbit can dig deep, deep burrows to keep her babies safe. But what can Mama Mouse do that’s so special? She can do a lot of things, but what she can do best is always love her Little Mouse with all her heart.

When Papa snores the lamp on the bedside table rattles and when Nana snores the blinds on the windows clank together, but when they are both snoring at the same time…oh my goodness!!! Even the neighbors start complaining. It’s funny who does manage to get some rest with all of that racket though.

Emma’s lost tooth was picked up by the tooth fairy, but now Emma wants it back because her grandpa is visiting and she wants to show it to him. The tooth fairy, however, can’t seem to find the exact tooth that Emma lost and night after night brings her the wrong tooth…a hippo’s tooth, a porcupine’s tooth, a skunk’s tooth, an alligator tooth and an elephant’s tusk. Finally, the tooth fairy finds the right one and shortly thereafter Emma loses another tooth.

Little Hippo is a bit disappointed when, even after 11:00pm., the tooth fairy has STILL not made it to his house. Well, it was raining that night and the Tooth Fairy had forgotten her umbrella and things were just taking a bit longer than normal. She does finally arrives at his house, but she still has one more stop to make after Little Hippo’s house. She’s wet and miserable and she really doesn’t want to do it though, so she glues her fairy wings on Little Hippo and he gets to be the Tooth Fairy for the night. Turns out the Tooth Fairy knows Santa, too, and Little Hippo gets a little extra surprise.

Granny gets the house ready for the whole family to show up for Christmas dinner. Everyone arrives and has dinner, but then when it’s time to go there is too much snow to drive home, so the whole family ends up sleeping at Granny’s house…aunts, uncles and cousins. This is a very cute story and I love the pictures of all the cousins snuggled up together on Granny’s floor.

I LOVE this book! It is SO sweet! Amos McGee works at the zoo. He is never late and he has a routine with the animals that he never misses. He plays chess with the elephant, he runs races with the tortoise, he reads books with owl and so on. When, one day, he doesn’t show up, the animals aren’t quite sure what to do with themselves, so they hop on the city bus and go to visit Amos who is sick in bed. The animals take care of him and reciprocate all of the niceness that he shows to them each day. This book will leave you smiling, or at least it did me.

I love Karma Wilson and I especially love all of her Bear stories. This one is no exception. Bear is not feeling well, so his friends do everything they can to help him feel better. They get him some herbs, they make some tea, they sing him lullabies…and it works. Bear wakes from his nap feeling great, but then his friends start not feeling well and it’s Bear’s turn to help out his friends.

Sam has a cough so his mom runs down the stairs to get him some cough syrup, but the spoon is too big and won’t go in his mouth (or maybe it just tastes yucky). Either way, the promise of snow coming soon coaxes Sam out of bed. He and his mom enjoy some nice warm tea with honey and wait for the snow. I love the illustrations in this book…have your little one look for the mice on each page.

This is the sweetest story about the friendship between an ornery little mouse and his cranky friend, Bear. Mouse shows up to spend the night at Bear’s house and they have a fun evening, but as it gets closer to bedtime, Bear lets Mouse know that he can’t sleep unless it is absolutely quiet. Well, Mouse has a hard time being absolutely quiet which leads to some cute dialogue and some adorable illustrations. In the end, however, Mouse ends up helping Bear overcome some nighttime fears and they both get a good night’s rest.
